HONEYMOON PLANNING SERVICES
He is leaving me while we’re honeymooning?

So, I’m currently on my honeymoon and my husband’s uncle recently passed away and his family demands that he flies back to USA for the service. I’m heartbroken over what happened but we just got married. We’ve only been here in Scotland for two days and he is seriously considering leaving.
I don’t want to appear selfish, but he really wasn’t close to this uncle and his family’s constant urging is unbelievable.

I mean, this was supposed to be romantic and fun (We are staying in an old castle in the highlands), but now this happened. We COULD plan another honeymoon but it won’t be as special. Should I just let him go? Or am I entitled to this vacation?
@DIogenes – Hmm…You don’t really know my relationship and you are in no place to spew negativity. So, keep your generalizations to yourself.

Wow… what an awkward and tricky situation. Sorry this happened. Well, this decision has to be up to one person and one person alone, and that’s your husband. This is not a choice you or his family can, or should, be making for him. It was his uncle who died, so therefore his choice.

If he wasn’t all that close with this uncle and he would rather stay on his honeymoon, that’s HIS right and his family should understand and respect that. A honeymoon is a pretty big deal. I can’t speak for the dead or anything, but If I were the uncle in question I would understand. If his “wanting” to go is only because of the pressure his family is putting on him then he shouldn’t go, because he WILL regret it.

However, if he truly wants to go and pay his respects, and as long as his family’s guilt trips and pressure has NOTHING to do with it, then you should let him go. Yeah, a honeymoon is supposed to be fun and romantic… but it won’t be either if you have a sad/depressed groom the entire time. As his wife its your job to be his support and to back him up during hard times. So, if it truly means something to him to go, then go with him and be by his side and offer him comfort during this difficult time. You would want him to understand if someone in your family died, wouldn’t you? Yeah, it may not be the same as your first honeymoon but Scotland will still be there and you can still return some other time.

Like I said before; when it comes down to it… its his decision and he should do what he TRULY feels he should do.
