HONEYMOON THEME BRIDAL SHOWER
Throwing bridal shower for little sis… theme help?

My younger sister is getting married, I’m her maid of honor so I am throwing her bridal shower. Her and her fiance really want to go to vegas for their honeymoon but they don’t have the money to pay for it so I thought about throwing a “Honeymoon” themed shower for them to help them out. What can I put on the invitations so that they don’t get the same gift from more than one person? When should I throw the shower for her if they are getting married in January of next year? Also what would be some good decorations to have? Would it be bad to maybe ask the guests to make a donation to help them with travel expenses (like money towards their plane tickets, or the hotel) that is what they really need help with… thank you so much!
Oh yes and who all should be invited to the shower?

First off, only invite people to the shower who are absolutely going to be invited to the wedding. Definitely all close female relatives on both sides: Mothers of the bride and groom, all grandmothers, all aunts, all sisters. Next invite all the bridesmaids (who you should be involving in the planning of the bridal shower, too.) Next close female friends of the bride (and groom if he has close female friends). Close family friends and/or neighbors of both sides. Next any first cousins invited to the wedding.
Ideally, you should just ask the bride. Hopefully they’ve already decided on a guest list, which will be able to help you.

Regarding the theme:
A honeymoon theme can encompass lingerie, travel related gear like suitcases and toiletry kits. You could provide suggestions like those I have mentioned and also include the suggestions people give a gift certificate from American Express, Visa or Mastercard. Ultimately people usually want to give a personal gift, so perhaps you can suggest to the other bridesmaids that you pool some money together for a gift certificate of this nature.

Decorations: a Las Vegas sign, dice and cards for center pieces. Sparkly banners or streamers (cause Vegas is all about the glitz).

Games:Include one card or Vegas type game, but keep the others in the traditional bridal shower theme.

As for when to hold the shower: Ask the bride, but I would suggest you have it about 2 months before the wedding.

Hope this answered all the questions satisfactorily. Good Luck.
