ROMANTIC HONEYMOON BAHAMAS
Honeymoon advice: Bahamas or Thailand?

I’m getting married in December and have been “put in charge” of booking our honeymoon. I’ve narrowed it down from about 10 places to the Bahamas and Krabi, Thailand. I’ve taken weather into consideration already. Has anyone been to either of these places? If so, tell me about your experience! (stuff like local prices, how much stuff there is to do, cleanliness, romantic, etc.). Thanks much!

Well the Bahamas is pretty easy to get to for an extended weekend from the US. Why not just go to Thailand and take the long trip now and do the Bahamas later. I think the Bahamas is popular more with single women from N. America.

You may be in deep doodoo if you make any decisions she does not like because women will hold that “bad decision” against you forever! Give her the two options, tell her why one MIGHT be better than the other and let HER choose which place to go. Stupid little decisions let her decide because if you are wrong that wrong choice will forever hang over your head! Save your fighting for serious things.

Thailand is a nice place to visit. You will have more to do in that country than in the Bahamas. Plan on a few days in Bangkok, try to fit Chiang Mai into your trip. Phuket and Chiang Mai are usually popular with many women. Krabi is nice but don’t waste all of your time only at beaches. One other reason for visiting Thailand is that you can also visit some of the nearby countries if you want (Laos, Cambodia, Singapore, Vietnam.)

Here are some travel forums you can look over for hints and advice. When you need hotel recommendations make sure you mention your budget per night for your hotel – use a baht figure.

I have been to both places. Being warm is one thing they have in common other than that they are different. Less of a culture shock visiting the Bahamas. Asia is a different culture, but in Thailand they do do tourism pretty good. You can get tours from travel agencies pretty easy. My visit to the Bahamas is a little stale but I think Thailand will offer better value for your dollar. You can find hotels in Thailand in Bangkok with air starting around 600 baht. Luxury hotel rooms will be from around 4000 baht to 6000 baht. (You would pay quite a bit more for these same rooms if the hotel was in the US.)

Good luck.
