Puerto Rico or Costa Rica for a honeymoon?
Hi! My parents have offered to send me and my fiance on our honeymoon this coming July, and we are trying to pick a place to go. We have heard good things about Puerto Rico and Costa Rica. How expensive are they? (Our airfare and hotel will be covered, but we will have to pay for all our food and activities.) Which one is more romantic? What kind of activities does each one have? (I know Costa Rica has beautiful rainforests.) What was your experience with either place?
I wish I knew Puerto Rico to give you unbiased Info, but I do not.
I live in Costa Rica now, I came here to work for one month in the Osa Peninsula area and I have only gone home to visit since!
In July the whole country is pretty available. There is more rain on the Pacific side compared to Dec- April, but honestly it is nothing too dramatic. Rain comes in the afternoon when you are sufficiently baked and ready for it!
The Caribbean side is better than usual in July-Sept, as it is ALWAYS very rainy there.
On the Caribbean coast I recommend Tortuguero. Tortuguero is where the Green Sea Turtles nest. Thanks to the efforts of this national reserve, the numbers of sea turtles (an endangered species) has risen from 3000 (1980’s) to about 20 000 today!

I think that Drake Bay on the Pacific side is a lovely get away for your honey moon. It is accessed via Sierpe by boat through a large Estuary which is home to the largest mangrove reserve in Latin America. There is a really cool island, Isla Del Cano that has great snorkeling.
