Honeymoon Suggestions in the U.S. or U.S. Territories?
My passport has expired and my hubby to be doesn’t have one and cannot get one yet due to a legal matter which is in dispute. <------ EXTRA INFO ....I KNOW
Anyway we would like to go to a quite, restful, secluded place for our honeymoon. Obviously we are looking for a romantic spot as well. Las Vegas, New York, etc is out of the question.
Our budget is $1000 - $2000 including flight and hotel accomodations. Is this realistic? We don't want a busy city. We love the beach, but we've been to most beaches in Miami and in California as well as a few in Texas.
I need ideas.
Only HONEYMOON SPOTS within the continental U.S. or any U.S. territories. I have verified with several sources a passport is not required as long as we remain on US grounds/land
Not sure where you’re flying from, but you can sometimes get good deals on week-long packages to Puerto Rico or St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Both are very nice with secluded resorts and don’t require a passport. But the price would definitely be at the top of your budget. A few years ago, we stayed at the Ritz Carlton in San Juan for almost a week, and got a great off season price of $199 a night in June.
On the continental US, depending on the month, you could try Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard. If you can go during a shoulder season like May or Sept, you can find some decent deals.
One other idea would be to try a spa / resort in Arizona. You can relax in the desert, get a massage, sit by the pool, etc. Perhaps one of these… http://www.ghotw.com/list/country/romantic/arizona.htm
