HONEYMOON RUSSIA

planning honey moon with disabled bride?
The wedding is October 2010 and the honeymoon will probably be that winter. But if we want a honey moon we need to start putting away now along with the wedding savings.
I wear a prosthetic leg so I have some mobility issues when it comes to lots of walking in hot weather, stairs, and around pools. I’m very active and I can move but I can tire out easy so I need a disability friendly location for the honey moon.
I’m not from a hot climate so in hot weather I tend to wear out more and have more blistering on my stump ( which ruins the rest of the day)
So we’re looking for suggestions of cruise lines, resorts, or travel destinations that are disabled friendly. We haven’t really decided on a destination but Vancouver, a Cruise though the Caribbean, Europe, Or Russia are on the dream list.
Any suggestions on good budget and disabled friendly places to go would be great.
I’m disabled and my husband and I really enjoyed our Royal Caribbean cruise! Since heat is an issue one that tours Alaska would probably be a great idea.
In order to get the best deals you will want to start shopping now. You also want to be a bit flexible about the date (unless you feel it’s very important to leave on the honeymoon right after the wedding – my husband and I enjoyed having our honeymoon a month after the wedding stress was over). We did this since it takes a while for me to recover from busy times and thought we would enjoy it more if I was at 100%!
With the economy in bad shape you can get good deals now so you want to start looking at different options. If you see a great deal on a major cruise line (they tend to be the most wheelchair accessible = Royal Caribbean is definitely our favorite) see if one of your parents is willing to chip in so you can buy it while prices are low. Same with your airline tickets! Make sure you get vacation insurance as well in case something goes wrong.
You also need to book well in advance to make sure you get a wheelchair accessible room these go fast!
I think the rooms with the balconies are definitely worth it but that’s up to you.
If you need any more help let me know – I would be happy to answer any questions.
