HONEYMOON KARACHI

HONEYMOON KARACHI
Any suggestions for a first time traveler to Pakistan?

My wife and I are from America, and we hope to travel to Pakistan in May 2010. We have always dreamed of traveling to exotic lands, and finally will be able to afford the honeymoon we have been waiting three years to take. We plan on flying to either Islamabad or Karachi, then taking a train to see many of the other sites in Pakistan.
We love History and Culture, and we do not expect to stay in fancy hotels. While we are there, we want to live like the locals.

Can anyone who has traveled here give us any suggestions on places to see, tips to stay safe, and tips on how to enjoy our time there while respecting the culture and local traditions?

I had to read your question twice to understand. Americans going on honeymoon to Pakistan? Pakistan where at least right now the most terror acts are taking place?

You want to live like locals? Pakistanis are eager to get out of their country for work and living in other Gulf States.

Sure it’s interesting to discover different cultures, but you can do this in many countries.

Example: in the UAE you can discover a different culture, be surronded by Pakistanis and you can stay in a fancy hotel. But – it’s SAVE!

@Tod T: they can’t go to Saudi because they won’t get a visa. Oman is beautiful and very, very safe.
