Should I tell our friends and family that we are eloping?
My partner and I have decided to elope in Hawaii in 8 months. We have been together for over 5 years now and really want to get married. However we don’t have the money to afford a big wedding. We also wanted to go to Hawaii and figured that we could get married and have a honeymoon on our budget. We also don’t want the stress that comes with arranging a big wedding, especially because my family live in the US and all of our friends and family are in the UK. At the moment it’s a secret and we haven’t told our friends and family. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to tell our friends and family that we are getting married. However we don’t want them feel left out if we don’t tell them and if we do tell them we don’t want them to feel pressure to come to the wedding because they don’t have any money either. We were thinking that it may be a good idea to have a Just Married reception when we get back home from our honeymoon. Please let me know what you think?

my bf and i recently got engaged and we havent told anyone since we both know that my family will make a big palava out of it and i want a small, very intimate ceremony and my family will push for a huge family gathering which for me is not intimate and completely contradicts the prupose of a marrige ceremony (in my oprinion since i am a very private person)
I think that its up to you and your partner and that you should not let anyone pressure you, its your day so it should be just the way you and your partner want!
