Marriage license question…?
Ok, my fiance and I are having a destination elopement in Gatlinburg, TN. We’re going to get our marriage license the night before the ceremony and the get married at the cabin that we are honeymooning at. My question is, when the officiant returns our marriage license in our state, how long will it take until we are sent our copy? Will it come from the court house in Tennessee or from our local court house? I was told two different things so now I am wondering who is right… Please help!
nedree… My family as well as his have both been informed that we’re eloping. Just because they won’t be at the wedding doesn’t mean that we’re going to fail at marriage! This has nothing to do with it. Since none of family has been married out of state, they don’t exactly know either, that’s how I got the two forms of information. Helpful answers only please!
Already checked, no waiting period…
We got married in Vegas a few years ago. The marriage license stays in the count records there. It does not transfer back to your home state. As to how long it takes to get a copy of it, that depends on the Court Clerk in Gatlinburg, TN. Ask them.
