CHEAP ROMANTIC HONEYMOONS
Where should I go on my honeymoon?
I live in California. We are on a really tight budget. Any good ideas to go on a cheap but romantic honeymoon?
Dubai? Caribbean? What part of “really tight budget” don’t you people understand?
To minimize costs, stick with someplace you can drive to. Driving saves at least a grand over flying – no airline tickets, airport parking, car rental when you get there, bag fees, etc. Draw about a 5 hour circle from where you live. The “sweet spot” for me is 3 to 4 hours away. Far enough to feel like a vacation, but not too far where you’re spending too much time and money getting there.
To maximize your dollars, consider staying mid-week if you can. For resort or get-away destinations like you’ll want, that’s almost always cheaper.
As far as where – that’s all about what you and your new spouse are interested in. Beach, cabin, outdoor or athletic, adventure, whatever. Could be anything from camping, a room on the beach, or a spa for a few days. Spend the money you do have at your destination, not to get there.
Finally, always remember a honeymoon isn’t about where you go, what you do, or how much you spend. It’s about who you’re with.
