CHEAP HONEYMOON THAILAND

Honeymoon Destination Ideas?
Hi all,
My fiancee and I are trying to think of places to go on our honeymoon. We are in Asutralia, we have never been overseas, we will be travelling in September, we will have maximum 10-11 days.
We don’t want it to be a typical romance overboard honeymoon, but some romance is great. We obviously don’t want to be in a tour group! I guess we want to see some nice sights but still have time for us!
We don’t want it to be too expensive, but don’t want it to be cheap. We want it to be memorable and maybe a bit different? My fiancee is a bit keen on stopping somewhere like Thailand on the way home so she can do some cheap shopping!
Any ideas???
Thanks!
September is an ideal time to travel to hot countries particularly in Asia. Vietnam is a fantastic destination and is definitely do-able (have some luxury on a budget). Hanoi is one of my favourite places – love the French touch, baguettes for breakfast and great markets and history. There are some good beaches and resorts – Cat Ba island is interesting. You don’t need to do a tour. Either plan before you go with the help of a travel agent or do a basic outline then get a Lonely Planet and plan the rest of your journey yourself. From there you could go to Laos – somewhere the tourists haven’t fully over-run yet! Lovely lazy laid back cities and people. You could also do Cambodia and then head to Thailand. There are great overnight train links throughout Thailand. If you are after lying on beaches then you can do this in Thailand, especially south of Bangkok. Heaps of shopping there and lots of flights back to Australia. Good luck and have fun!
