BALI HONEYMOON UBUD
I want to know about Ubud in Bali, Indonesia. Is it a hill station or beach?
How’s is Ubud for a honeymoon. Renting a villa…is it a nice idea?
It’s a gorgeous little town, full of stunning, temples, markets, little shops and great retaurants and bars. Oh and the monkey forest! I adored it, possibly my highlight of Bali. We were there as part of a several month honeymoon travelling round SE Asia and spent over a month in Indo – Bali (brilliant) Lombok (not so!) Gili Islands (very chilled) and eastwards (remote) across to Komodo.
I have to say in all honesty, much as I loved Bali, it does not have the best beaches for that part of the world. The Gilis were the prettiest but there’s not a lot going on, perfect if you just want to relax but see little else.
Ubud is excellent for a few days and a good base for seeing the rest of Bali. Oh and it is only 1-2 hours drive at most from beaches / airport, not several hours.
If you are set on going to Bali for say 2 weeks, I’d get a luxury hotel down in the South for a few days, do a small island (Lembongan?) for a few days and Ubud for a few more days. You’ll have time to move about a bit and really see the island but please don’t go all that way without visiting Ubud!
